Our Last Day, bring on the beach!

Hey Guys!

Today was our last day and we lived it up! We went to a beach and resort type place called the Canadian. It was really fun! We played in the beach and pool most of the day. We came back to the team house at 3 and left the house at 5 for dinner. We said our goodbyes to the missionaries here, and now we're in the busy stage of packing. Thank you for all your prayers and support, and pray that God would allow us to make it home safely. You guys have been so awesome! See you soon!

Day 7 & 8, last days!

Hey Guys!

Well sorry we didnt update yesterday. It was so fun to see you guys on skype! After our call, we went on a tour around La Ceiba, ate lunch, came back to the team house, and after some rest we had gringo church (the staff and missionaries here and ourselves). After that, we ate dinner and packed it up to go into Armenia for church at 6:00. We stayed there until 8 and came home and went to bed early. It was a pretty low key Sunday.

Today, we woke up at normal time, and went and watched the Chili and Switzerland soccer game at 8:30. After that, we hung out with the kids, and walked to the river near by. We then watched the soccer game at 12:30, Honduras and Spain. Then, we played soccer and hung out with kids until 3:00 when we taught English as a Second Language. It was really fun to be able to have conversations with them. After that we hung out with the kids and said our goodbyes. It was really sad.
Please pray for us as we get packed up and ready to leave. And pray that God would comfort us as we are sad that we will be leaving the relationships we have built. Pray that God would use the relationships we have made to change our hearts and the hearts of the kids in Armenia. Thank you for all your prayers and support and the comments you have left. We feel so blessed!

Day 6, the soccer tournament!

Hey Guys!

Sorry we didnt get a chance to upload anything last night, we were exhausted! Yesterday was our big tournament. Half of us went out at 7:20 and picked up kids from Armenia and brought them to the indoor soccer complex, while the other half of us left at 8:20 and went to the soccer complex and helped set up.

The six boys from our team were able to play in the tournament against the older Honduran youth teams. All 9 girls each had their own team they were responsible for coaching-making sure they had food, water, knew when they were supposed to play, and encourage and cheer them on. It was a really great opportunity because we were all able to build relationshiops with the kids on a more personal level.

The soccer tournament ended around 3, we took the kids back, and then came home for some pizza. We were able to have a sort of night off which was really awesome. Please continue to pray for team unity, and that we would not get homesick. Thank you for all your prayers and support, it has been so encouraging! We will try and post some more videos soon.

Day 5, our day off!

Hey Guys!

Well, today we had a "day off" which really meant we were hiking up a mountain. It was really fun! So not so much of a day off, as in no work, but a fun day for us to hike and spend time together. We left the house around 8 am and drove in the bus to the hike. After that we stopped at a waterfall near by and then began our hike to another waterfall. It was really steep and definitley induced some azthma scares. (sorta similar to the 93 stairs, for all you London go-ers) But we made it! After around 2 or 3 hours we got to this beautiful, refreshing waterfall. We all jumped in, hung out and ate our lunch. We had a great time! We hiked back down the mountain and got back around 3.

At 3 we went to a tourist shop and spent most of our money, and we stayed there for around an hour or so. It was fun to see all the different things there. After that, we went to the missionaries house for dinner and got to spend some time with them. We also got a devotional from them which was really great.

After that, we went to an indoor soccer complex and played a gringo game, which was our elcc team and the missionaries and interns here. We had a great time!
Today was really fun, and it was nice to have a sort of day off. We are learning a lot and loving it! It's been really neat to get to know the interns and missionaries here and to hear their story. They have been so kind and welcoming to us. We are very grateful.

Please continue to pray for us and for our team to be unifyed. When we are living in such close quarters, it's easy for sinners to rub against sinners. Pray that God would keep us motivated and loving the people here and each other. Thank you for your comments and prayers, we are very encouraged!

Day 4, and no catchy phrase!

Hey Guys!

First of all, we went to bed super early last night, so I didnt get a chance to upload the Honduras 411 video, so here it is:

Today we got up at normal time, and left the house around 7:30. Sorry for updating this so late, it's been a busy day. We left the house for Armenia and half of the team split between the medical clinic and construction. The medical clinic team did various things, such as pharmacy, taking blood pressure, sitting with the nurse, and talking with the patients. They visited around 70 patients today, started at 8 and finished around 1. The construction crew finished building the house we demolished the other day with cinder blocks and some picked up trash (there was plenty!) and played soccer with the kids. After that, they went into the village to see what it was like and see different styles of living.

After that, we had lunch, and put on a soccer tournament on the field near by. There were three sections: younger boys, older boys (youth), and girls. In Honduras, girls never really get a chance to play soccer, so it was a really cool opportunity. We helped with the tournament by getting balls out of line, being linemen, and varoius other projects to keep the games going.

Tomorrow is our day off, and we will get up and go on a hike. God has been so good to us and he is showing us so much of himself. Please continue to pray! Thank you for your prayers and support.

Day 3, and still going strong!

Hey Guys!

Well today started very early! We all woke up around 3 am and left the house around 4 or so to go to the town we've been working in to watch the soccer game. We had a really great time, but we were definitley exhausted. And for all of you not keeping up with soccer, Honduras lost which was a real bummer. After that we watched the Spain and Switzerland play at 8:00. We hung out at the place called el centro (central place maybe?) and watched the games on the projector and hung out with the kids until lunch time.

Around lunch time, we went to Theresa's house (a Honduran woman connected with the church) where she taught us how to make tortillas. Most of us were pretty awful at it. Then we headed to the river, packed full of Hondurans and the team here. We went to the river and it had 3 large rocks and rapids for us to play around in. We all got a chance to jump off of the large rock that was 20 feet high, it was a blast! We spent a few hours there just hanging out and enjoying our time with them and each other.

After that we went to the Clow's house for dinner, like we did monday. We are now back at the house and ready to have our team meeting. Thank you for your prayers and support. We have been so encouraged by your comments and updates! Please continue to pray for us as we still have a week to go, and we are getting tired. Pray that God would give us His strength. We are learning and growing a lot, and God has been really good to us!

Day 2, and still moving!

Hey Guys!

Okay, i'm sure these post are getting more lame and cheesy as time goes on, but you can definitley blame it on the tiredness.

Today we rocked it out with some construction bright and early. We left the house at 7:20 and arrived on site at 8:00. We split into two teams. Some of us mixed concrete for a widow's home, in hopes that we can finish it this week. The rest of us went and did demolition on another lady's house in the community. We took down all of the wood framing and began to rebuild it with cinder blocks. It was definitley moving and interesting to see what the roof was made of and the condition her house was in.

After that, some of us went and passed out flyers to kids in the community (similar to London, except they wanted our flyers) about the soccer skills we were hosting tomorrow and the plans for the rest of the week. At one o'clock we had a soccer skills tournament. It included kick-as-far-as-you-can, longest goal, juggling, heading, shooting for the cross bar, and other soccer things I dont really understand. After that we played with the kids, which was so much fun! Now that, I can understand. It started raining around 4, sweet releif! It was so wonderful. The heat is so exhausting at times.

Our youth are learning a lot about how to be servants, what other cultures are like, and our main struggle right now is the language barrier. Let me tell you, high school spanish is nothing like the real thing! As we are talking last night about how language is a direct result of the fall of creating, and how God is changing our hearts, and we can't wait till heaven, when there won't be any language barrier. Please continue to pray for us, we're excited about being here and ready to see how God is changing our hearts. Everyone has been so sweet and kind to each other, and God is unifying us as a team. Please continue to pray for the effect of the heat, and for us to continue to have servants hearts.

Tomorrow we are prepared to get up around 4 am and leave the house around 4:30, to get to Armenia and project the Honduras soccer game at 5:30. After that we're headed to the river for some swimming time.

We Made It!

Hey Guys!

We made it! Sorry for not posting yesterday, but the electricity went out as soon as we arrived. All of our traveling yesterday went smoothly. God was so good to us! Thank you for all of you that have supported and prayed for us. We got to our terminal early and we boarded the plane on time. Security was smooth and so was everything else. We arrived in Honduras, waited in an extremely long line and got through customs. We waited for a few hours in the airport, and then boarded on the bus. It was a really long day of traveling! We arrived in La Ceiba around 6:30 or so and came to the Missionaries house to the electricity going out. Yikes! The electricity was out until around 10 or so. We got a lot of much needed sleep, but no showers.

This morning most of us woke up around 5:30 when the sun comes up. The time zone is two hours behind Georgia time. We left the house at 7:20 to go to the worksite. Our schedule today started with us going to do construction for a widow's house in the town of Armenia, about 20 to 30 minutes from where we are staying. Half of us mixed concrete while the other half moved rocks for the foundation for a soccer field in the city. We worked from 8 to 12 and then took a lunch break. We hung out with kids and played soccer after lunch till 3. At three we taught english to some Honduran kids. We started with soccer (football) vocabulary and moved on to the passage in the Bible of Jesus's first miracle. After that we played with the kids until we left the worksite. We had dinner at the Clows house, which was delicious! And now we're back at the house showering and getting ready for tomorrow.

Getting Ready to Leave!

We are getting so close to leaving! Please be praying for us as we begin this journey. God has been so good to us to raise most of the support we need.
